Rock’ N Red Deer

Over 850 hot rods, customs and classic 50’s, 60’s & 70’s cruisers are on display to the public. Event highlights include day cruises, Friday night “Cruise In” in downtown Red Deer plus an outdoor stage with continuous live music all day Saturday and Sunday.

Field to Jar Homemade Pickles
Location: The Jungle Farm
Date: August 2nd or 11th at 10:00 am – 12:00 pm
Try this great hands-on experience to make your own dill pickles! We start from picking the cucumbers all the way to filling the jars. You will take home the recipe and knowledge of how to make crisp tasty pickles at home. You will also have a jar of pickles to sample with your family.
Discovery Wildlife Park Zoofest

This annual event is held on the Saturday of the August long weekend every year. New this year is a public market! Come enjoy the day with the whole family – free pancake breakfast, free face-painting and activities for the kids!
First Fridays @ the MAG – The Writing on the Wall
Date: August 12th
Location: The Red Deer Musuem and Art Gallery
This will be the last chance to see the exhibit so join the MAG for a guided tour beginning at 6 pm. This event is free to attend, though donations are graciously accepted. This exhibit showcases the diverse works of Joane Cardinal-Schubart, with heavy emphasis on contemporary political issues.
Bentley Fair and Rodeo Days
Date: August 9th – 12th
Location: Various locations around the town of Bentley
This 4 day event has a ton of features including a Drive-In movie on the grain elevator and Saturday you can dance the night away after the rodeo and fireworks. Also on Saturday is the big Show & Shine where you can bring your prised vehicles or drool over the car of your dreams.

Mud Hero Alberta
Date: August 11th and 12th
The spectacle of Mud Hero is like no other! Mud Hero’s course will get your adrenaline and blood pumping. With DJs, live bands, cash BBQ, sponsor give-aways, live demos and alcohol/non-alcohol drinks, enjoy the festivities as you cheer your fellow Mud Heroes on to the finish.

The Red Deer Association for Bicycle Commuting will be hosting the first ever Cyclovia event in downtown Red Deer. The event gives participants a safe and easy way to enjoy a car free experience in downtown Red Deer. Downtown activities will include food trucks, open restaurants and cafes, active living association booths, bicycle repair demos, bicycle helmet fittings, and more. Jazz at the Lake

2018 marks the 16th Annual Jazz at the lake festival in Sylvan. This year features award-winning Canadian pianist/vocalist Laila Biali, and performances by this year’s Project Discovery winners! Laila will also be presenting a FREE Jazz Workshop with vocalist Cheryl Fisher Saturday and later join the Late Night Lions Jam at the Lions Hall.
Golf Central Albert Invitation Golf Tournament
Date: August 18th and 19th
Location: Wolf Creek Golf Resort and Alberta Springs Golf Resort
This year join the Golf Central Alberta Invitational for the first round (Aug 18) at Wolf Creek Golf Resort. The second round (Aug 19) takes place at Alberta Springs Golf Resort. Entry Fee includes: 2 rounds of gold, 1 night accommodation, shuttles, cocktail party and dinner, gift bags, and prizes.

Location: The Danish Canadian Museum in Dickson, AB
Visitors can tour the Viking encampment, showing living accommodations, cooking methods and crafts. You will also see Viking warriors demonstrate the use of swords, shields, axes and archery. This is family-oriented event, with face-painting, Viking costume dress-ups, and telling of Hans Christian Andersen stories.
